The French twinners from Luynes had to cancel their planned April trip because of the airport closures and will now be coming to Buntingford from Wednesday 20th to Sunday 24th October. If you would like to host then please let us know.
This breaks the pattern that has been established for many years and means that our next visit to Luynes will be in spring 2011.
Approximately 20 Buntingford twinners will be in Olvega between 15-19 September to experience their annual fiesta del Cristo. Some of us have been before but this is the opportunity for anyone who has not to come along and have an unforgettable few days.
On the Friday we will be going to Madrid because we have been invited to visit the Senado - which is the upper house of Spain's parliament. It is not normally open to the public and is a great privilege for us to have the opportunity to be shown around.
Traditionally the last day of fiesta sees the whole town and friends eating a communal meal in the streets and we have places reserved for us. The atmosphere builds up during the day whilst large cooking pots simmer away over open fires and the food is brought around on carts and served by some of the younger people of Olvega.
On 9th October we are going to have another meal and the theme this year is World War 2. These events are always a sell-out so contact Jean and reserve your tickets straightaway.
Looking forward to 2011 there is a British Artisan Cheese evening being planned. A similar event in Rushden earlier this year was very successful and if you fancy some Stinking Bishop keep Feb 26th free.
